As the diagram clearly shows, a student who obtains a City & Guilds Advance Technician Diploma will be immediately exempted from Part 1 of the Engineering Council UK Graduate Exam. About the qualification:
Provides future engineers with a technical background that combines traditional skills and the very latest technology. Available at Technician Certificate, Technician Diploma and Advanced Technician Diploma level with Applied and Theory routes at each level.
Syllabus areas:
Engineering fundamentals, Mechanical technology, Computer Aided Draughting, Engineering drawing, Manufacturing technology, Manufacturing theory and processes, Resources, Mechanical principles. Advance manufacturing and management.
Entry requirements:
Certificate- G.C.E (O/L) with Maths, Science and English.
Diploma- City & Guilds Certificate in Mechanical Engineering 0R G.C.E. (A/L) in the Maths Stream OR any other recognised certificate from a Technical College (ATI, CGTTI, AETI, VTA).
Advance Diploma- City & Guilds Diploma in Mechanical Engineering OR any other recognised Diploma from a Technical College ( NDES, NDT (Before 2003), NCIT)
Method of assessment/examination:
A combination of multiple choice question papers, structured questions and practical assignments administered by the centre.
Note: The Full Technological Diploma (FTD) is available to those who successfully complete the Technician Diploma and Advanced Technician Diploma.
Candidates applying for the FTD should:
Be at least 21 years of age
Be able to provide a documented period of two years relevant work experience
Hold appropriate City & Guilds Technician Diploma and Advanced Technician Diploma qualifications

About the qualification:
Provides progression routes from front line mechanic to diagnostic technician and supervisory responsibility. Opportunities are also included for further professional progression from technician to motor vehicle engineering degree and management level programmes. A range of motor vehicle engineering staff - from front-line mechanics to diagnostic technicians and those with supervisory responsibilities - will find these qualifications appropriate. Available at Technician Certificate, Technician Diploma and Advanced Technician Diploma level with Applied and Theory routes at each level.

Engine systems, Chassie systems, Maths, Science, and Communications, Maths, Science, and Electronics, Vehicle systems, Engineering systems.
Entry requirements:
Certificate- G.C.E (O/L) with Maths, Science and English.

"Skills" is conducting a 19 month course in Construction Mangement & Quantity Surveying which will lead to a Bsc (Hons) Engineering at Northumbria University. Students who have completed the program will get exempted from the first year at this University.
Craft Award in Construction Industry (Refrigeration & Air Conditioning)
About the qualification:
Provides a technical background that combines traditional skills and very latest technology in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning. These qualifications recognise candidates at three levels: those starting their training, those seeking to become more proficient in their trades and those looking to take on advanced skills and responsibilities. Available at Certificate, Diploma and Advance Diploma level with Applied and Theory routes at each level. Completion of the Diploma will allow a student to enter the Diploma of the Technician Award in Mechanical Engineering (Manufacturing).

Refrigeration and Air conditioning (Principles and Practice), Basic Construction Skills (Principles and Practice)

A trade test and an oral test will be conducted.
Engineering Council Exam Preparation Course
The Engineering Council Examination has been designed to provide a flexible route to meeting the enhanced academic standard for Chartered Engineer registration as required under SARTOR
1997. "Skills" offers an Exam Preparation Course for those students who wish to sit for the UK Engineering Council Examination Part 1 (Certificate) and Part 2 (Graduate Diploma).
